The Employer, our client, is a leading Group of Companies in the UAE, located at Masdar City, Abu Dhabi. They are specialised in Aeronautics and Avionics and currently busy with large scale development of Commercial and 25kg MTOW UAVs. They are seeking qualified and experienced Research and Development Engineers with the below details to join them. All shortlisted Applicants will appear for a video interview with the Employer's Technical and Management Team. 


ROLE OVERVIEW 

As a Research and Development Engineer (Software Development), you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing software systems for Ground Control Stations used in UAV operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication between ground stations and UAVs, contributing to both software development and field-testing activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Work with QGroundControl or Mission Planner for communication and control interface development.
2. Optimize and integrate various sensors, communication protocols, and UAV telemetry into the software platform.
3. Conduct extensive field testing of UAV systems in real-world environments, troubleshooting and iterating on software improvements.
4. Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure software compatibility and performance.
5. Provide technical support during field tests and operational deployments.
6. Implement and maintain user-friendly graphical interfaces for UAV control systems using the Qt framework.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
2. At least 5 years of experience working with PX4 and/or ArduPilot in UAV systems.
3. Proven experience working with 20kg+ UAV projects in Defense Industry applications.
4. Strong experience with Qt framework for GUI development.
5. Proven experience with QGroundControl or Mission Planner software.
6. Familiarity with UAV communication protocols, telemetry, and sensors.
7. Solid understanding of UAV architecture and ground station integration.
8. Experience in debugging, testing, and optimizing software systems.
9. Willingness to participate in field tests and troubleshooting in real-world conditions.
10. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
11. Strong teamwork and communication skills.
