Application Method: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the aerodynamic design and analysis of UAV platforms, including conceptual design, sizing, and performance prediction using computational methods and empirical data.
- Calculate aerodynamic characteristics, such as lift, drag, stability, and control, for various UAV configurations.
- Perform sizing studies to optimize UAV geometry, wing loading, aspect ratio, and other aerodynamic parameters to meet mission requirements, payload capacity, and endurance targets.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including aircraft designers, propulsion engineers, and systems analysts, to integrate aerodynamic solutions into overall UAV design.
- Develop mathematical models and simulation tools to predict UAV performance in different flight conditions, including cruise, loiter, climb, and descent phases.
- Analyses flight test data and validate aerodynamic models to refine predictions and improve the accuracy of performance estimates for UAV missions.
- Generate technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate aerodynamic design concepts, analysis results, and recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in aerodynamics, UAV design, and performance analysis.
- Contribute to field test activities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in aerodynamics engineering, with a focus on UAVs or aerospace applications.
- Proficiency in aerodynamic analysis tools, such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent), and familiarity with wind tunnel testing techniques are a plus.
- Strong understanding of aerodynamic principles, including fluid dynamics, boundary layer theory, Airfoil design, and wing-body interactions.
- Experience with aircraft sizing methods, performance prediction techniques, and mission analysis for UAVs or similar aerospace platforms.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., MATLAB or Python) for data analysis, Modeling, and simulation of aerodynamic systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts and analysis results to diverse audiences.
